TRADE WINDS CONDOTEL & ISLAND NEWS

The good news about the global economic recession is that the Turks & Caicos Islands are once again affordable for everyone just as they were back in the 1980’s. The Trade Winds Condotel, for instance, is up to 40% less expensive than just one year ago and is also offering incentives such as a free vehicle to drive on holiday. But did you know that the Trade Winds Condotel is located in the very heart of the most expensive piece of real estate in the Turks & Caicos Islands? No further from the beach than many of the beach front condominiums, the Trade Winds is still considered one of the best valued properties on the island of Providenciales for investment.

Did you know that the Trade Winds Condotel is located within walking distance to ten or more restaurants, catering to all tastes and budgets? The largest outdoor shopping plaza in the islands, The Salt Mills, is a three minute walk from Trade Winds. The new IGA Gourmet food store is a ten minute walk from Trade Winds and the new First Caribbean Bank is only three minutes away – make a reservation at Trade Winds with all your shopping and banking needs directly across the road!

No longer do our guests have to take a taxi ride or drive the seven miles to the only other IGA supermarket currently on the island or have to wait in line for hours at the bank downtown. Grace Bay has finally become a self-contained community where guests can relax on the beach, dine in one of our many fine restaurants, and do their shopping and their banking within easy walking distance from Trade Winds.

Golfers’ Paradise

The Turks & Caicos Islands can still boast having a world class golf course, perhaps the best course in the entire Caribbean region, and only a five minute drive from Trade Winds!!

New Causeway

Despite the damage caused to the new causeway from last year’s hurricanes, it is still possible for our guests to travel to Middle Caicos without taking a plane. Our guests can now take the water taxi to North Caicos, rent a vehicle at a modest price from Mark’s Car Rentals on arrival and then drive to Middle Caicos over the damaged but still intact causeway to explore the island’s pristine beauty. With less than 400 inhabitants, Middle Caicos is the largest island in the Turks & Caicos archipelago.

Casino

Providenciales still offers our guests the choice of two casinos to take their chances with Lady Luck! On Grace Bay we have the Casablanca Casino, about three minutes from Trade Winds by car (although the casino does offer free taxi service to and from the casino) and Turtle Cove has the Player’s Club Casino close to the marina and several restaurants.

Champagne Boat Trips

The Trade Winds Condotel is pleased to announce our special rates for a half a day or full day’s trip on Capt. Keith’s champagne cruises on aboard the FOOT LOOSE, a 38ft. luxury, high speed cabin cruiser available for charter for trips to secluded cays and beaches where tourists rarely venture. Be greeted at the dock with a glass of champagne, take the controls of one of the fastest boats on the island, water ski or simply wade ashore after a catered lunch and walk barefoot on deserted white powdery sand.

Destination to the Stars

Did you know that the Turks & Caicos Islands is one of the most popular destinations for Hollywood Stars? Actor Bruce Willis and actress Demi Moore have been visiting the islands for years and own a house on Parrot Cay as has Will Smith and his lovely wife, Jada Pinkett. Sir Paul McCartney, President Bill Clinton, Robin Williams, Kevin Costner are among the many illustrious names visiting the Turk & Caicos Islands. Madonna is rumoured to be building a house on the island and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones owns land in North Caicos and Eric Clapton’s two mast yacht can often be seen moored in Grace Bay. Our most famous resident for the past thirty years until recently when he sold his house to a UK billionaire was American Bandstand host, Dick Clark.

Cinema

The island does have it’s a fairly new cinema located on Leeward Highway. The new cinema boasts three screens and has all the latest movies opening the same week as they do in the United States.

Airport Expansion

A new airport terminal is due to start construction possibly as early as next year along with a runway extension. The runway extension will allow the larger jets to fly here from Europe directly without a stopover in either Miami or Nassau, Bahamas. This will open up the Turks & Caicos Islands to the lucrative European market which has been largely ignored because of the difficulty of getting to the islands without the inconvenience of flying to the United States first or stopping over in Nassau for refueling on the weekly British Airways flight.

Wired island

At the Trade Winds Condotel resort we offer FREE high speed, wireless Internet connection to all our guests. It has been reputed that the Turks & Caicos Islands is the most “wired” country in the world!! With only approximately 30,000 inhabitants in the Turk & Caicos Islands yet we still enjoy one of best cellular services in the world, and also enjoy the reputation of having one of the highest numbers of cellar users per captia of any country in the world.

Beaches

Did you know that Grace Bay Beach was voted the World’s Best Beach by the World Travel Awards? And did you know that it is only a three minute walk from the Trade Winds Condotel to what is now the quietest part of Grace Bay Beach! Imagine staying at The Trade Winds, close to shops and restaurants and only three minutes from the world’s best beach!!!! Surely, life could not get any better!!!!!
